This tenor sax is serial #245XX, dating it to about 1954. The Keilwerth 'The New King' model went thru many different incarnations. This model is a series III model, after the company was forced to relocate from Czechoslovakia to Germany. This horn still has the original clear lucite keyguard, a rarity being that most of these cracked and were replace with sheet metal guards. This horn features the New King banner over the earth and the crown above engraving, and also the 'Best in the World' engraving above the serial number. This horn has been completely overhauled in our in-house repair shop, all pads, felts, corks have been replaced and the horn has been setup.

It has been re padded with prestini pads with metal domed resonators. The horn has a great full bodied tone and just enough edge to cut. If you're a player or collector, this horn is perfect. This is a beautifully kept pro model Keilwerth SX90R. One owner, brought to Berklee from Alaska and back, now with me in Seattle. Beautiful bright tone and an absolute pleasure to play. In great shape, includes original jazz mouthpiece and separately purchased Otto Link 6 star mouthpiece. Also some Hemke 3 and 3.5 reeds and a comfy neck strap. One small ding on bell, not visible to audience. Slight scratches on bottom of sax, could probably be buffed away quite easily.
